The national question in Nigeria - Part 2 Nigeria’s fledgling democracy appeared to be on course until it was violently torpedoed by some misguided military officers in the first military coup in the country in January 1966. The coup involved the killing of the Prime Minister of Nigeria, Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and several high ranking civilian and military officers in the country. The coup leader, late Major Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu was however quickly shoved aside by superior officers who were not part of the planning and execution of the coup. Whatever might have been the revolutionary zeal of the plotters, they had no opportunity to show it. By the Constitution (Suspension and Modification) Decree No. 1 of 1966, the Federal Military Government assumed “power to make laws for the peace, order and good government of Nigeria or any part thereof with respect to any matter whatsoever.” This was a classic case of displacement of goals as the Nigerian Armed Forces took o

Nigerians React: Lil Kesh, Olamide Glorify Money Ritual In "Logo Benz"? Everything you need to live well Flenjo crooner Lil Kesh teamed up with former record label boss Olamide in a new song ‘Logo Benz.’ While the two are known for their hits or what Olamide prefers to describe as back to back hits, this new song does not seem to settle well with lovers of music. While the Nigerian music scene is filled with artistes with little or no regard for the art or people with lyrical content or low value, the two who are known to have properly represented the streets for a long time have dropped to an all time low with this heat. Now, herein lies the problem, the intro in Logo Benz is a plea to Jesus to bless them with money to buy Benz but “If money no enter i go do blood money.” Recall that Olamide’s Science Student was banned by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) because it encouraged the use of drugs which Olamide explained was contra

PDP attacks Buhari as he commissions new terminal of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Presidential Campaign Organization, PPCO, on Thursday mocked President Muhammadu Buhari for allegedly attempting to claim “credit for the construction of new Terminal Building at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.” PDP claimed that it is “public knowledge that the project was designed, conceptualized and fully financed by its administration.” PPCO stated that it was unfortunate that President Buhari, in his “desperation to nudge up his globally established non-performance rating, ahead of the 2019 Presidential election, engaged in yet another failed media stunt by trying to posture and claim credit for a project his administration made no contribution towards the funding and execution.” A statement by PDP’s spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan reads: “It was therefore derisory to see Mr. President and his handlers, comically
