A Ch ieftain of the   All Progressive Congress (APC)   Amb. Abayomi Mumuni has berated former President Olusegun Obasanjo for endorsing the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) Peter Obi. He urged Nigerians not to bothered with recent utterances of the ex President. Mumuni, who is a member of the Security and Intelligence Committee of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, was the gubernatorial candidate of the defunct Congress for Progressives Congress (CPC) in Lagos state in 2011. Obasanjo on Sunday in a letter declared that he will be supporting Obi for the presidency. The APC chieftain advised Nigerians not to worried with the recent outburst of the former President”because age is telling on him”. Mumuni, who said that Obasanjo has no political value again, insisted that the former President was looking for relevance in 2023. “Baba’s value is zero for now. We should not bother. He is an old man. Psychologically, age is telling on him. “Baba is looking for relev

Anti-Buhari letter: Presidency lambasts Obasanjo, says ex-president govt corrupt

Image
President  Buhari The Presidency on Monday slammed former President Olusegun Obasanjo for describing the seven years of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) in office as horrible and hell on earth for Nigerians. It described Obasanjo’s government as corrupt, adding that the former leader was morally bankrupt. The Presidency, which listed Obasanjo’s sins in office, also accused him of lying to the South-East to garner votes during his tenure between 1999 and 2007. The elder statesman stirred the hornet’s nest on Sunday with his criticism of the Buhari regime, noting that the nation was currently faced with pervasive and mind-numbing insecurity, rudderless leadership, mismanagement of diversity and pervasive corruption and bad economic policies, which he said had resulted in extremes of poverty and massive unemployment and galloping inflation. Obasanjo’s endorsement of the Labour Party standard bearer, Peter Obi, in a lengthy New Year message also provoked the All Progre

El-Zakzaky blames US for terrorism in Middle East

El-Zakzaky The leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, on Monday, blamed the United States for the terrorism in the Middle East. In a statement he personally signed, El-Zakzaky said he arrived at the conclusion following the killing of an Iranian general, Qaseem Soleimani, which the US took responsibility for. He stated that the killing of Soleimani, which happened on January 3, 2020, only immortalised the general and the struggle which he gave his life for. He said, “It is three years since we lost this great Mujahid who has been an icon of the struggle against terrorism and whose murder has exposed who the real terrorists are. “The US boasted of taking responsibility for his murder.  This clearly shows that they were all behind the terrorist activities in the Middle East, particularly in Iraq and Syria, where they have packages of terrorist groups under different names of DAESH, ISIS, and the like. “No doubt, they have made a grievous mistake by the

Sowore knocks Obasanjo’s endorsement of Obi

Image
Omoyele Sowore  The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, has described the endorsement of his counterpart in the Labour Party, Peter Obi, by former president Olusegun Obasanjo as an “endorsement of failure.” The   endorsement of Obi by Obasanjo  on Sunday sparked reactions across rival political camps, with the All Progressives Congress describing it as a ‘worthless’ political move, adding that it would not affect the ambition of its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu. The Peoples Democratic Party also  shared a similar view. Reacting on Monday via a Facebook post, Sowore described Obasanjo as an overrated Nigerian ruler who “fetsihised the rumination of Nigeria.” He said rather than an Obasanjo’s endorsement, he would rather be satisfied by ‘the ‘people’s endorsement.’ “Obasanjo’s repeated endorsement of @Peter Obi shows once again that the overrated three-time Nigerian ruler fetishises the ruination of Nigeria. “Failure endorsing Failure. The Deputy Director, Public Affairs of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Kehinde Bamigbetan, and his counterpart in the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Cuncil, Anthony Ehilebo, have said that the endorsement of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has no electoral value.   The APC and PDP chieftains made this known in an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Monday morning, monitored by our correspondent. Bamigbetan said that Obasanjo’s endorsement would not change anything adding that the former president is entitled to his own personal opinions.  He further stated that Obasanjo would not be able to deliver his polling booth to the Labour Party candidate, Obi. “Obasanjo endorsing Obi makes no difference. We have seen it coming and we are not surprised that he took that step because we have seen the signs. It will not translate to votes because Obasanjo said i
