Military dissociates self from call to overthrow government

Image
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) on Tuesday dissociated the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) from the circulation of document, calling for the overthrow of the democratically elected government led by President Muhammadu Buhari. In a statement issued by Navy Capt. Muhammed Wabi, Deputy Director of Defence Information, the DHQ accused a group, “Nigerian Continuity and Progress (NCP)’’ as being behind the document. Wabi alleged that the document called for the setting up of an “interim government’’ in place of the elected government. “The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) wishes to dissociate itself from the rascality and intentions as espoused in a document being circulated by a faceless group named Nigerian Continuity and Progress (NCP) calling for support of a revolution to oust the current democratically elected government and in its place establish an illegitimate interim government. “The AFN outrightly condemns the undemocratic and demonic actions of the author of the document

Michelle Obama's Post-White House Style Evolution Now Includes a Sparkly Bustier

Image
If you've been watching Michelle Obama's style transformation since the former FLOTUS left the White House, you'll notice her gravitating toward laid-back silhouettes, statement heels (remember those Balenciaga boots?!), and lots more sparkle. It's the sartorial equivalent of someone letting their hair down, and with each appearance, our favorite first lady solidifies her second act -- as a book author, yes, and a stylish force with something new to say. This time, she's saying it with a bold, purple, custom Sergio Hudson pantsuit and a sexy bustier peeking out underneath. For a public appearance celebrating her book Becoming in Atlanta, Michelle paired her colorful power suit with a sequined silver bustier. Just that sliver of a slinky, sexy, sparkly, curve-hugging piece set this suit apart from the kind we became accustomed to seeing Michelle wear in the White House. While her outfits when Barack was in office were deliberate, crafted with the acute awareness

Ban on Chinese goods will fail, work harder if you want to catch up: China's media advises India India will have to turn its culture around with things like 996 if it hopes to compete with China, Global Times says. China has no reason to worry about any Indian ban on its goods, says Global Times. state-run media just took up billionaire  Jack Ma 's controversial " 996 " call and repurposed it for a very different use: to give India a lesson in  work culture .  An inefficient manufacturing sector will make sure India has no chance of catching up with  China ,  Global Times  said in a recent article. That is also the reason why India's efforts to ban Chinese goods will fall face flat, it argued.  Alibaba's billionaire founder Jack Ma recently made headlines after endorsing a tough overtime work schedule that has since been widely debated everywhere. He essentially meant a work culture of long hours, referred to as 996 — 9 am to 9 pm, six days a

Hackers Exploit WhatsApp Flaw To Install Spyware

Image
A security flaw in WhatsApp, one of the most popular messaging apps in the world, allowed sophisticated attackers to install spyware on phones, the company said on Tuesday, in the latest trouble for its parent Facebook. The vulnerability — first reported by the Financial Times, and fixed in the latest WhatsApp update — allowed hackers to insert malicious software on phones by calling the target using the app, which is used by 1.5 billion people around the world. The FT cited a spyware dealer as saying the tool was developed by a shadowy Israel-based firm called the NSO Group, which has been accused of helping governments from the Middle East to Mexico snoop on activists and journalists. Security researchers said the malicious code bore similarities to other tech developed by the firm, according to The New York Times. The latest exploit — which impacts Android devices and Apple’s iPhones, among others — was discovered earlier this month and WhatsApp scrambled to fix it, rolling

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - Moving the PGA Championship to May for the first time in 70 years hasn't gone well so far at Bethpage Black on Long Island. Oh, and the rabid New Yorkers will be filling the galleries. The Black, playing to a par of 70 and stretching out north of 7,400 yards, will greet the players each day like a jab to the face.
