INEC deletes 2015 election results from its website [PHOTO]

The results of the 2015 general elections have been taken down from the official website of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). This alarm was raised by Reuters reporter, Paul Carsten. Carsten tweeted on Wednesday: “The Nigerian Independent National Electoral Commission appears to have taken the 2015 election results off its website: bit.ly/2SA5xk4 “#NigeriaDecides2019.” A quick check by DAILY POST, revealed that pdf file on the page was missing. The error message displayed read: “Oops! That page can’t be found. “It looks like nothing was found at this location. Maybe try search again?” However, the countdown timer to next week’s election, was ticking away at the top of the page. Air Force Acquires 22 Aircraft To Fight Boko Haram & Others

Aircraft The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar Wednesday said a total of 22 aircraft were recently added into the inventory of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to support various on-going military operations across the country, particularly the fight against Boko Haram Terrorists, TheNation has reported. According to Abubakar, as at July 2015, the aircraft serviceability status of the Nigerian Air Force was below 60 percent, but as at date, the aircraft serviceability status has improved beyond 80 percent. Abubakar made the remarks while declaring open the NAF Finance Training Workshop with the theme “Strenghtening the NAF Finance Specialty for Efficient Service Delivery in Support of NAF Operations”, at the NAF Headquarters, Abuja. Head of the ECOWAS Election Observer Mission for the 2019 elections, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, has asked the police to ensure a peaceful, free and fair general election. She made the call on Wednesday when she visited the acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu. Sirleaf, however, commended the police for what she described as their professionalism in the run up to the elections. In response, the IGP said police personnel are fully prepared for a hitch-free exercise. According to him, they have been trained in various aspects of election security matters, before, during and after the elections. The multi-award winning actress shared pictures of the event, which held on Tuesday, on her Instagram page on Wednesday. The 36-year-old revealed that the recognition is coming ahead of Pan African Film & Arts Festival (PAFF) Screening, in Los Angeles, later in February. U.S. Coast Guard seizes 35,000 pounds of cocaine worth $466 million in Eastern Pacific Ocean (Photos)

The U.S. Coast Guard announced a major drug bust after they seized close to 35,000 pounds of cocaine from suspected drug smuggling vessels in Eastern Pacific Ocean.  The drugs, worth an estimated wholesale value of $466 million, were intercepted off the coasts of Mexico, and Central and South America and off-loaded in Port Everglades, Florida on Tuesday, the Coast Guard said in a news release. In the statement, it was revealed that the U.S. Coast Guard offloaded approximately 34,780 pounds of cocaine. Six different crews seized the drugs from 21 separate vessels stopped in Pacific waters. The haul was the "result of the collaboration and coordination of multiple Coast Guard and interagency assets to address the complex maritime challenge of transnational criminal organizations,”  Cmdr. EPL: Chelsea reveal Eden Hazard’s replacement

Former Premier League champions, Chelsea have identified Barcelona ace, Philippe Coutinho, as a potential replacement for forward, Eden Hazard. Hazard on Tuesday confirmed that he has made a decision over his future at Stamford Bridge. The Belgium international, who is yet to sign a new deal with Chelsea, has less than a year remaining on his contract. The 28-year-old has also made no secret of his desire to play for Real Madrid. Chelsea have announced their updated Europa League squad for the knockout stages. Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri, however, made one surprise inclusion in the team. It has been revealed that four Nollywood actors have taken part in the auditions for the soon to air, Big Brother Naija 2019, reality show. You will recall that an RCCG worker stole the show in one of the audition centres earlier. The actors are Olumide Oworu, who is popularly known for his role in a family sit-com ‘Johnsons’, fast-rising actor Emem Efe, Yoruba actor Joseph Jaiyeoba, and Joshua Richard. The four actors were spotted among over 5000 Nigerians that auditioned at the Lagos audition venue, Edmark D’Podium events centre, on Friday, February 1, 2019. Olumide and Ufot made their way to the final round of the auditioning process at about 1:45 pm. Richard and Jaiyeoba were spotted at a different time, while some upcoming comedians were also spotted during the audition. According to SaharaReporters, the residents of the popular Nnebisi and commuters plying the road narrowly escaped death on Monday, after the electric scoreboard at the newly commissioned Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State, collapsed. Staff of the Sports Commission headed by Tony Okowa, younger brother of Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State, who witnessed the collapse of the electric scoreboard at about 7pm, told SaharaReporters that the scoreboard collapsed as a result of a heavy wind. The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) As part of its consumer protection activities, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), has received and satisfactorily resolved 92,757 service-related complaints escalated to it for resolution by aggrieved telecommunications consumers in the past two years. Deputy Director, Consumer Affairs Bureau of NCC, Ismail Adedigba, disclosed this in a report detailing consumer protection activities of the Commission presented during a consumer awareness campaign held in Niger State, at the weekend. “Between January 2017 and December 2018, the Commission received a total of 118,784 complaints from consumers, of which 92,757, representing 78 per cent of total complaints received during the two years period were successfully resolved to the satisfaction of telecom consumers,” he said. More Nigerians would be having opportunities to play significant role in the maritime sector, with the Nigeria Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Delta State, providing quality trainings to buoy the skill of Nigerian youths in shipping. The Vice Chancellor of the Nigeria Maritime University, Prof. (Mrs.) Maureen Ongoebi Etebu, who disclosed this during a tour of the institution’s teaching facilities and infrastructure at the take-off campus, said it would also save the nation foreign exchange. She affirmed that the standard of training in the institution is at par with international best standards, therefore negating the need to further send students abroad to obtain such trainings.
