Thamer Ghadhban also said there were no acute oil shortages for the time being, but Iraq would continue to monitor the market to assess any need for additional barrels at the next OPEC meeting, due in June. “We are very keen to secure oil supplies for consumer states and to maintain market stability,” oil minister Ghadhban said. On Monday, the United States decided not to renew exemptions from sanctions against Iran granted last year to buyers of Iranian oil, taking a tougher line than expected and triggering a rally in oil prices on fears of oil supply shortages. “We have plenty of time to assess the markets’ reaction,” Ghadhban said at a joint news conference in Baghdad with the head of the In

Zidane gives go-ahead for €180m Real Madrid transfer

Image
Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, has sanctioned a €180million move for Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho this summer, Bild reports. It is understood that Madrid are the most recent top European club, to be interested in the 19-year-old winger. Los Blancos have been linked with a move for Kylian Mbappe for a number of years and while the 20-year-old Frenchman remains a favourite of Zidane, there is an acceptance in the Spanish capital that Paris Saint-Germain are unwilling to part with their young star. Zidane, who returned to the Madrid dugout barely six weeks ago, has reportedly now told club president Florentino Perez, to bring in Sancho instead. Dortmund are believed to be open to a sale, should the fee reach €180 million, a price that would make Sancho the joint-second-most expensive footballer in history.

Facebook anticipating $5bn privacy violation fine

Social media giants, Facebook said it could face a fine of up to $5 billion as the result of an investigation by the Federal Trade Commission, US Today reports. The agency has been investigating Facebook for possible privacy violations but has not announced any findings yet. The company set aside $3 billion in its quarterly earnings report Wednesday as a contingency against the possible penalty. The one-time charge slashed Facebook’s first-quarter net income considerably, although revenue grew by 25% in the period. The FTC has been looking into whether Facebook broke its own 2011 agreement promising to protect user privacy. Investors shrugged off the charge and sent the company’s stock up nearly 5% to $190.89 in after-hours trading. Facebook has had several high-profile privacy lapses in the past couple of years. The FTC has been looking into Facebook’s involvement with the data-mining firm Cambridge Analytica scandal since last March. That company accessed the

The director said that two doses of the measles vaccine were essential to protect children from the disease. She said, however, due to lack of access, poor
