Police arrest 264 suspected killers, kidnappers, cultists in Anambra

The Police Command in Anambra, on Monday said the force arrested  264 suspects including kingpins that  masterminded two high profile kidnap and murder cases from April 1 to date in the state. Police The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Mustapha Danduara, disclosed this to newsmen during the parade of the suspects at the command’s headquarters, Amawbia near Awka on Monday. According to him, 231 out of the figure are suspected cultists, 16 “one chance“ robbery syndicates’, four suspected car snatchers, three suspected kidnappers and 10 suspected armed robbers. He said the arrest of the suspects was due to combine effort of the command’s striking units such as; SARS, Special Anti-Cultism, Operations Udoka and Divisional Patrol teams. President Muhammadu Buhari, Monday, directed the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, to take all necessary steps towards ensuring Zainab Aliyu, the Nigerian woman awaiting execution for drug trafficking in Saudi returns to the country. SA Province accuses police minister of constitutional breach

Cyril Ramaphosa: South African President South Africa’s Western Cape provincial government on Sunday accused National Police Minister, Bheki Cele of violating the Constitution by ignoring the security concerns in the province. It is now six months since the Western Cape government, run by the opposition Democratic Alliance (DA), first wrote to Cele with a list of urgent policing needs and priorities for the province, official said. Alan Winde, the Provincial Minister for Community Safety added that Cele had ignored the list. Winde said that he, as authorised by the Western Cape cabinet, has written to Cele to notify him that the Western Cape government was declaring a formal inter-governmental dispute with the police minister. “The minister of police is obliged by the constitution to consult and take account of the specific needs of our province when determining policy. “By ignoring these needs and priorities, minister Cele is violating the constitution,” Winde said. Apo substation fire: TCN restores normal bulk power transmission

Power installation Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), says it has restored normal bulk transmission of electricity to its Apo transmission substation after a fire outbreak on one of its 45MVA 132/33kV power transformers on Sunday. The burnt 45MVA 132/33kv power transformer feeds electricity to Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) 33kV feeders. Mrs Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager Public Affairs in a statement on Monday said the fire was put off by the combined efforts of the Federal, FCT and NNPC fire service. She, however, said it was still early for TCN to determine if the burnt transformer could be salvaged. Mbah said that the fire resulted from a direct fault from one of AEDC’s 33kV feeders which had a history of incessant trippings, noting that the 33kV lacked protection. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) and Amb. Bashir Yuguda, in the alleged misappropriation of N19. 4 billion arms funds. The EFCC charged Dasuki, Yuguda alongside former Governor of Sokoto State Attahiru Bafarawa, his son, Sagir and his company Dalhatu Investment Limited. The EFCC charged them with 25 counts bordering on criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of public fund to the tune N19. 4 billion. Buba Marwa, said on Monday in Yola. Marwa who disclosed this during a courtesy visit to Gov. Muhammadu Bindow of Adamawa, said the development was posing a great danger to the lives of over 180 million Nigerians. ” So far, there are over one million unregistered and killer patent  medicine stores across Nigeria. ” Also only about 58,000 of such stores are registered in 36 states and Abuja,” Marwa said. Travelling on those roads endanger their lives as well as those of their exotic automobiles.
