Meter manufacturer seeks CBN’s intervention for MAP actualisation

[FILES] Power Meter Chairman, Momas Electricity Meters Manufacturing Limited (MEMMCOL), Kola Balogun, has appealed to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), to make single digit credit line available to meters manufacturers for the effective actualisation of Meter Assets Providers (MAP) programme. Balogun, while discussing the possible issues that meters manufacturers might be faced with towards the successful implementation of MAP, explained that funding is the major challenge facing meter manufacturers in the execution of the project as implementation capital outlay is very huge. To this end, Balogun proposed that the CBN provides credit facilities to the tune of N10 to N20 billion for each manufacturer. He urged the CBN to come to the rescue by granting all meter manufacturers single digit credit line, which will allow them to pay back in due time. According to MAN president, Mansur Ahmed, there is need to deepen the sectors both in depths and scope through increase in value addition. Citing the textile sector as an example, Ahmed said the sector used to be very vibrant, but it has declined significantly. “So, we must broaden the sector to ensure that sectors that are not adequately functioning are restored to good health. SHIP owners’ reluctance to assist in salvage operations when other vessels are in distress has been attributed to an aspect of the law which empowers the owner of the distressed vessel to sue the rescuer in case of damages to vessel in distress or loss of lives. Senior Partner of Akabugo and Associates, Emeka Akabugo, noted that most ship owners run away from embarking on a rescue mission for vessels in distress because of fear of legal action. Troops kill 55 bandits, rescue 760 abductees in Zamfara

Troops in the north east Troops of Operation Sharan Daji have killed 55 bandits and rescued 760 persons abducted from villages in Zamfara state. This was contained in a statement signed by Acting Force Information Officer, Maj. Clement Abiade in Gusau on Tuesday. Nigerian Air Force announces date, guidelines for 2019 recruitment

The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has announced date for its 2019 recruitment process. NAF disclosed that the recruitment exercise will commence on Saturday 16th – Saturday 30th March 2019, at 15 Centres. In a post on its Facebook page, the Force also highlighted guidelines candidates must take note of ahead of the exercise. The post read; “SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES FOR THE 2019 NIGERIAN AIR FORCE ZONAL RECRUITMENT EXERCISE. The 2019 Nigerian Air Force Zonal Recruitment Exercise is scheduled for Saturday 16th – Saturday 30th March 2019 at 15 Centres. “The schedule of activities at the various Centres daily are as follows: SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS 1.
