Image
Daniel James' move to Manchester United is nearing completion after the young Welshman caught the eye of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with some glittering displays for Swansea City in the Championship. A move rumoured to be in the region £15m will see the 21-year-old link up with Paul Pogba and co as United look to banish memories of a torrid league season in which they finished a whole 32 points adrift of champions Manchester City. Surprises are sure to hit the winger like a tonne of bricks, as he trades the Welsh coast for the glittering royalty of Red Devils' stardom. Stepping foot on Carrington's golf course-esque carpet of a playing surface may too take his breath away, but unquestionably it wont come within touching distance of the moment he received a brand new puppy dog. Those who have had dogs know the sheer unbridled joy they evoke from deep within, lighting up our lives with their floppy ears and effervescent smiles. Truly, man's best friend. James was no

Jamaica's Dominique Bond-flasza (16) and Nicole McClure (13) celebrate after Bond-flasza scored the game-winning penalty kick to defeat Panama in the third place match of the CONCACAF women's World Cup qualifying tournament in Frisco, Texas. Just a handful of years ago, Jamaica didn’t even have a women’s national team. The Reggae Girlz, as they’re known, are also the first Caribbean team to qualify for the Women’s World Cup, which opens June 7 in France. Cedella Marley, the eldest daughter of music legend Bob Marley, has played a key role in resurrecting the Jamaican women's soccer team after the country's federation cut the funding at the beginning of the decade. Marley was upset when she saw a flier asking for donations to the Jamaican national team when her son brought it home from school in 2014. "People were saying no to (the women), and it was for no reason," Cedella recalled in an ESPN story published Tuesday. "The more I got involved, th

Lionel Messi Reveals Son Pretends to Be Liverpool Since Defeat & 'Cheers' for Real Madrid

Image
Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has admitted that his eldest son Thiago, pretends to be Liverpool when they play together at home ever since Barça's 4-0 pummelling at Anfield in the Champions League semi-final last month. Barcelona held a commanding 3-0 aggregate lead at the halfway stage of the tie after Messi himself played a starring role in the first leg at Camp Nou. But a rampant Liverpool blitzed their illustrious opponents in the return game, with two goals each from Divock Origi and Georginio Wijnaldum turning the semi-final on its head. But rather than put the humiliating defeat behind him, Messi is now reminded about when he goes home because his six-year-old son wants to be Liverpool when they play together at home. "We played at home, and last time, we kicked it about, he would tell me, 'I'm Liverpool , who beat you. You are Barça, and I'm Liverpool.'" Messi is reported to have told Argentine broadcaster TyC Sports as he prepares

PSG 'Ready to Bid' for Man Utd Star David de Gea & 'Begin Talks' With Keylor Navas

Image
De Gea has been linked with PSG ever since it became clear that contract talks with Manchester United were stalling. The Spaniard has just one season left on his current Old Trafford deal and the 20-time English champions are in a vulnerable position. Paris Saint-Germain are being heavily linked with Manchester United star David de Gea and Real Madrid backup Keylor Navas in the wake of the announcement that Gianluigi Buffon will be leaving the club when his contract expires at the end of the month. Buffon shared duties with homegrown World Cup winner Alphonse Areola in the French capital during the 2018/19 campaign, but PSG have been tipped to dip into the transfer market ahead of next season rather than promote Areola to number one. A report from The Times suggests that PSG are 'ready to make a bid' for De Gea. The newspaper claims that 'sources close to De Gea' have revealed he is not close to agreeing a new deal with United, even though talks started nearly

The Raptors Had All the Answers in Game 3 of NBA Finals

Image
Klay Thompson had never missed a playoff game before Wednesday night, but in Game 3 of the NBA Finals, he was sidelined with a strained hamstring. That injury, coupled with Kevin Durant's ongoing from recovery from a strained calf and Kevon Looney's broken collarbone, left the Warriors alarmingly shorthanded and it presented the Raptors with a golden opportunity midway through the series. "Game 3s are always key," Steve Kerr said before the opening tip Wednesday. "No matter what the score of the series is, there's a pretty big swing in momentum." Now the momentum belongs to the Raptors. As great as Steph Curry was carrying the Golden State offense, the Raptors took control of the game with a seven-point lead after the first quarter and never looked back, claiming Game 3 123-109. When Golden State fought back and threatened to regain control, Toronto responded over and over again to keep the game out of reach. The entire night was a killer display of

Neymar's lawyers deny they sought settlement at meeting

Image
BRASILIA, Brazil — Attorneys for Brazilian soccer star Neymar on Wednesday disputed allegations that they had asked for a meeting to discuss a settlement with representatives of a woman who later filed a rape complaint. The player's legal team issued a statement saying it was the unidentified woman's attorneys who sought the May 29 meeting, in which no agreement was reached. The woman's lawyers had said the request came from Neymar's lawyers. Her legal team at the time said her first complaint had been of "aggression" or "physical violence." She filed more serious rape complaint against Neymar on Friday in Sao Paulo. The woman later changed lawyers. She and Neymar are yet to testify to police. Neymar said he had two encounters with the accuser in France, but denies any wrongdoing. "The initiative for the meeting to take place always came from the (accuser's) lawyer," Neymar's legal team said. It said attorney Jose Edgar

7 Reasons Why Diego Maradona Is Absolutely the Right Man to Turn Manchester United Around

Image
Argentina and Napoli legend Diego Maradona has been in the news of late, and it's not just because he has an excellent-looking documentary coming out about his, err, tumultuous life. No, it's because, just like any great aggregator, he knows how to get clicks: talk about the circus show that is Manchester United. Speaking to FourFourTwo, the 58-year-old explained: “If Manchester [United] need a coach, I’m the man to do it." Well then, that settles it. But, if you're in need of a bit more convincing, here are all seven of the definitive reasons why Diego should be at the wheel. His Candour Now, the question you have to ask of any skill that a potential United gaffer may have, is 'does Paul Ince have it too?' This time, the answer is probably yes, but still, coming from Maradona it has a bit more oomph to it. Yes, surprise, surprise, one of the most unabashedly charismatic/eccentric players the game has ever seen is not too worried about upsetting

Portugal 3-1 Switzerland: Report, Ratings & Reaction to Cristiano Ronaldo Masterclass

Image
A Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick saw Portugal qualify for the inaugural Nations League Final, as they beat Switzerland 3-1 on Wednesday night in Porto. Switzerland could've taken the lead on numerous occasions, with Xherdan Shaqiri and Haris Seferović each missing a string of chances. Cristiano Ronaldo then missed his own big opportunity, as he scuffe d his shot wide after Manuel Akanji's pass was intercepted. Portugal took the lead after 25 minutes, thanks to a smart free-kick from Ronaldo. The free-kick was awarded despite Kevin Mbabu winning the ball, and without any complaint Ronaldo assumed duty and struck the ball home to put the Selecao das Quinas in front. The second half began with huge drama, as VAR came into action for the first time. First, Switzerland appealed for a penalty as Nelson Semedo clipped Steven Zuber. As the advantage was played, Portugal went up the other end and were awarded a penalty of their own. However, after a VAR check referee Felix B
