INEC Meets ASUU On Friday, Considers Recalling Ex-Corps Members For Election Duty Following the failure of the federal government to find a lasting solution to the lingering strike by public university lecturers, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has decided to hold a consultative meeting with the lecturers’ union, the Academic Staff Union if Nigerian Universities (ASUU) on January 4, ahead of the 2019 polls, Akelicious has learnt. The meeting, according to the electoral body, will be limited to the involvement of their members in the 2019 general elections. ASUU had last month embarked on industrial action to protest the poor funding of Nigerian universities and alleged plan by the federal government to increase students’ fees and introduce an education bank. ‘Name Federal University of Tecnology Akure after Shagari ’ Alhaji Shehu Shagari I was very saddened when I learnt of the departure of Former President and Commander-In-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Alhaji Shehu Aliyu Usman. Our departed former President who had the rare opportunity of ruling Nigeria during the Second Republic, was indeed a man of honour, dignity and character. He was a very considerate, accessible, objective, selfless and kind man. I had the rare privilege of meeting him when I was a Counsel to the Federal Government in Justices Ayo Irikefe enquiry into an alleged 2.8 billion pounds diverted from the central bank of England into a private account in Midland Bank in England. What stands this epitome of decency and integrity out is his vaunting patriotism, open door policy, simplicity, humility and his love for education. The people of old Ondo State which included the present Ekiti State will forever remain grateful to the depa

Why Marriage Really Scares Me - TV Personality, Uti Nwachukwu Confesses Actor, TV presenter and model, Uti Nwachukwu, speaks to JOY MARCUS on his career, marriage and other issues How did you come into the entertainment industry? As a Big Brother Africa star, a lot of doors were opened to me. Inasmuch as I didn’t win the BBA 3, it still gave me leverage in the entertainment industry. I have not always had interest in acting because my first love was music; so, I always wanted to be a music star. Acting and hosting events came naturally to me, and I was doing it while in school. As for acting, I used to mimic a lot of people and my friends told me that I should become an actor. What was your parent’s reaction when you told them about BBA ? I didn’t tell them; I only told my sisters. When I got back from the competition, they were proud of me but they said my dad was shocked. I made them happy though I was evicted the first time. Sadly, when I won the BBA

2019: Jonathan speaks on bribing APC guber running mate, Hamzat with $5m Former President Goodluck Jonathan has reacted to claim that he offered $5m bribe to the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship running mate in Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat in 2015. Jonathan said Hamzat was a politician desperately looking for votes, hence should be ignored. In a statement issued by his Media Aide, Ikechukwu Eze, on Sunday in Abuja, the former president stated that Hamzat was unknown to him. Jonathan said “in the first place this character is an obscure individual who in 2015 had neither a recognizable name nor political clout.” The statement reads: “There is no better way to respond to this frivolous claim than to quickly dismiss it as a blatant lie apparently concocted by a wannabe politician desperate for votes in a campaign season. “The point has to be clearly made that former President Jonathan has never met this man who was obviously not relevant in the nation

Boko Haram: 100,000 people purportedly flee Borno to Chad republic Following series of attacks by terrorists across Borno state in Nigeria’s northeast, over one hundred thousand people are said to have crossed over to Chad republic, claiming that they have no hope remaining in that part of the country. Malam Shuibu Isa, one of the people who are part of the movement, told newsmen on phone that there was no sincerity in the Nigeria military’s claims regarding the fight against insurgents in the northeast. “We are tired of reporting issues to the military because they are not doing anything about it. Before the attack in Baga, we have reported on the impending attacks but nothing was done even when we see the Boko Haram fighters gathering,” he said. Already hundreds of residents from the northern part of Borno state have fled their homes and return to Maiduguri with already new registration of 2,400 IDPs at the teachers’ village IDPs camp along Pompomari ward in
