10 Essential Driving Tips For Pregnant Women

Image
1. Minimize Your Driving When your pregnancy has become really advanced, especially when it is in the third trimester, it is important to minimize the need to drive yourself. This is especially at the point when your belly has gotten too close to the steering wheel. If you must drive long distances, arrange to have periodic stoppages for toilet breaks and to stretch your legs. 2. Keep Sufficient Space Between You and the Car Ahead of You Avoid tailgating. Tailgating is when one drives too close behind the car ahead of him or her. One reason why this is important is that in the event that the car ahead of you halts suddenly, this will prevent you from stepping on your brake suddenly, and bumping your Tommy unto the steering wheel. 3. Take Periodic Breaks To keep healthy circulation, especially in your leg, it is important to schedule periodic breaks from driving, even if it’s just for a couple of minutes, so you can stretch your legs. 4. In the Event of a Collision

Atiku filed an ex-parte motion at the Court of Appeal in Abuja, asking for various orders of the court to allow him to access all documents used by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the conduct of the presidential election. The ex-parte motion is praying for an order compelling INEC to allow them to inspect the register and other vital documents used in the conduct of the election unhindered. In the ex-parte motion dated March 4 and filed March 5, Atiku and the PDP applied that the Appellate Court serving as the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal to compel the electoral body to allow their agents to scan and make photocopies of vital documents used

The 23-year-old Gambian shares the two-bedroom flat with nine other people — the youngest a newborn baby girl, the daughter of a Congolese flatmate. Like thousands of other Africans, Lamin came to Russia during the 2018 tournament on a “Fan ID” that allowed spectators to bypass the country’s usual visa requirements. While most came purely to watch the football, others had plans to stay on and find work. Some believed they could claim asylum in Russia or that the country would be a stepping-stone to life in Europe. But eight months after the World Cup, their hopes have been dashed and the Russi

Real Madrid contact Mourinho to replace Solari as manager

Image
Jose Mourinho is the first choice to take over at Real Madrid and has already been approached by the club, according to former president, Ramon Calderon. Santiago Solari is under pressure at the Bernabeu, after losing back-to-back games to Barcelona and being knocked out of the Champions League by Ajax within one week. Mourinho, who left Real in 2013, disclosed last week that he was flattered to be linked with a return. And Calderon has now said it is only a matter of time before it is official. He told Sky Sports News: “I have no doubt Mourinho is the first option for the president. He’s been called in the last weeks. “It was when Zinedine Zidane left, Mourinho was with Manchester United and he said it was not the right moment to come back, but maybe now he’s free. “I think there will be many chances he will be on that bench next season.” Asked about other potential candidates, he added: “Maybe Mauricio Pochettino, they are talking about him. But there will be many in

White Farmers Who Killed Black Teenager Over $5 Jailed

Image
The white farmers Two white South African farmers were sentenced to up to 23 years in prison on Wednesday for the murder of a black youth who was thrown from a moving vehicle after being accused of stealing about 80 rand ($5) worth of sunflowers. The death of 15-year-old Matlhomola Mosweu in April 2017 caused outrage in a country where deep racial divisions persist 25 years after the end of white minority apartheid rule. Violent crime in South African farming communities has stirred racial tensions and protests. Blacks comprise 80 percent of the 54 million population but most of its wealth remains in the hands of whites, who make up about 8 percent. The two defendants, Pieter Doorewaard and Phillip Schutte, were found guilty in October of murder, kidnapping, intimidation, theft and pointing of a firearm. North West High Court Judge Ronnie Hendricks said in his sentencing that Mosweu’s murder was not planned nor premeditated, but the accused acted recklessly. The convicti

India Refuses To Share Proof Of Strikes In Pakistan

Image
Indian flag A top Indian minister said on Saturday the government would not share proof that “a very large number” of militants were killed in air strikes inside Pakistan this week after doubts were raised there were any casualties in the attack that stoked tensions between the nuclear-armed rivals. The flare-up appeared to be easing on Saturday after Pakistan handed back a captured Indian fighter pilot on Friday night, amid efforts by global powers to prevent another war between the arch enemies. However shelling across the Line of Control (LoC) that acts as a de facto border in the disputed Kashmir region, a frequent feature in recent weeks, continued, said military officials on both sides. Hostilities escalated rapidly following a suicide car bombing on Feb. 14 that killed at least 40 Indian paramilitary police in Indian-controlled Kashmir. India accuses Pakistan of harboring the Jaish-e Mohammad Islamist group that claimed the bombing. Indian warplanes carried out air s

Nigeria State elections: Court sacks all APC candidates in Cross River

Image
Barely few days to the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections in the country, a High Court in Calabar on Tuesday insisted that the removal of the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidates for the election in Cross River is a settled matter. The High Court presided over by Justice Eyo Ita in a suit brought before it by an aggrieved APC governorship aspirant, Mr. Ukpan Odey, said since the reliefs sought by the plaintiff were the same as that which a Federal High Court had already ruled on, it could not rule on them again. The Federal High Court In Abuja had on February 11th, 2019, in suit FHC/CA/CS/73/2018 ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to delist all the names of candidates of APC from the 2019 elections. Affirming that the ruling stands, Justice Ita directed “that All Progressives Congress, APC, the 1st Respondent herein, is obliged to apply and obey its constitution and guideline and their prayer N0 2 was decided in suit FHC/CA/CS/73/2018

North Korea Is Rebuilding Satellite Launch Site, Research Shows

Image
North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un/ AFP Activity has been detected at a North Korean long-range rocket site, suggesting Pyongyang may be pursuing the “rapid rebuilding” of the facility after the collapse of the Hanoi summit, according to the analysis of satellite imagery. Another research website suggested the rebuilding of the site may have started even before last week’s meeting between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and US President Donald Trump. The summit ended abruptly after the pair failed to reach an agreement on walking back Pyongyang’s nuclear programme in exchange for sanctions relief. The renewed activity was recorded two days after the talks and may “demonstrate resolve in the face of US rejection” of the North’s request for an easing of sanctions, said researchers at the Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). “This facility had been dormant since August 2018, indicating the current activity is deliberate and purposeful,” it said.

The value of a Nigerian life

Image
By Caleb Adebayo ABOUT a week ago, I was passing through one of Lagos’ very busy roads and an ambulance, its sirens blaring, was trying to weave its way through the traffic. It repeatedly sounded its horn, its driver frantically announcing that there was an emergency. Knife stab Obedience, the key to a miracle A few people tried to move, others just sat still, unyielding, while the ambulance driver was helpless. About a day before, I had seen a similar incident, only this time it was a police vehicle blaring its sirens and honking for cars to move aside. In less than a minute, everyone moved to the side and the police van drove through. Only yesterday, I learnt from a friend about how her uncle had been involved in an accident, and that while he was left there to bleed, his phones, laptop and even wrist watch were stolen, with no attempt at offering assistance. These incidents and many more, I will refer to in this spiel, make me wonder: what really is the

SO SAD!! Man Killed By Lion He Kept As Pet

Image
A man has been mauled to death by a lion caged at his family home in the eastern Czech Republic. Michal Prasek owned the nine-year-old big cat and another lioness for breeding, reportedly drawing concern from local residents. Mr Prasek’s father found his body in the lion’s cage and told local media it had been locked from the inside. The animals – living in separate pens – were shot dead by police called to the scene. A police spokesperson told local media that the shootings were “absolutely necessary for them to get to the man”. Mr Prasek, 33, bought the lion in 2016 and the lioness last year, and kept them both in home-made enclosures in his back yard in the village of Zdechov. He had previously been denied planning permission to build the pens, and was subsequently fined for illegal breeding. But his conflict with the authorities reached a stalemate after he refused to let anyone onto his property. A lack of alternative facilities in the Czech Republic, or any evide

Health budget will worsen forex, human index, say experts

Image
Healthcare The national health vote currently before the National Assembly is a “tacit support to the huge and ongoing foreign exchange outflow through medical tourism at the detriment of the economy.” Experts, who gave the damning verdict yesterday in Abuja, added that the development portends a gloomy future for mothers and newborns as well as the overall human development index of the citizenry, as the “paltry provision of N366 billion for the nation’s health system would soon throw up new challenges.” The situation, according to them, is more worrisome in view of support withdrawal by foreign donors amid allegations of non-transparent utilisation of previous donations and the country’s new classification outside lower income countries. Consequently, there is a palpable anxiety over what becomes the state of the nation’s health sector, especially when viewed from President Muhammadu Buhari’s recent warning to Nigerians to prepare for tougher times. Wike, army disagree over plot to kidnap Rivers REC

Image
Nyesom Wike As tension continues to mount in Rivers State ahead of Saturday’s polls, Governor Nyesom Wike has alleged that there are plans to kidnap the state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) to create an excuse for postponing the polls. He alleged that the plot was being perfected by security agencies in collaboration with the All Progressives Congress (APC). The governor claimed the state government intercepted intelligence report that the APC, which has been barred by the court from participating in the 2019 elections, intend to use security agencies to generate mass violence in an attempt at disrupting the distribution of electoral materials on Saturday just to force the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to postpone the exercise. Governor Wike made these allegations during a town hall meeting in Rivers West Senatorial District at Ahoada yesterday. His words: “They are struggling to ensure that the governorship and State Assembly elections do not hold

The curse of Attah Igala

Image
Attah Igala Youthful and vivacious Daniel Usman was looking forward to this week to register at the Federal University, Lokoja where he had admission to read physics. But that is not to be. He fell by the killer’s bullet at Anyigba in Dekina Local government Area of Kogi State on February 23 when, in response to his civic duty, he joined the line to cast his vote in the presidential and national assembly elections. Master Usman was killed, an innocent victim of other people’s blood-thirsty ambition for power. But for the Igala people of Kogi State, who had become used, in a fatalistically perverse way, it was one killing too much. And the paramount ruler of the land the Attah Igala, His Royal Highness, Michael Ameh Oboni II, said he couldn’t take it anymore. He did what any responsible leader in his position would do. To put an end to this ritual of death, he resorted to the traditional ritual of the land. He cursed those who kill and vowed that the death of this young man w

At the end of the exercise; the candidates with the highest number of valid votes (and who have also met other laid down criteria) are declared winners. It is in line with these crucial requirements that the February 23rd Presidential and National Assembly Elections were conducted in the country.
