5.32bn Litres of Petrol Were Imported By Nigeria in Q4 2018 – NBS

According to the National Bureau Statistics (NBS), a whooping 5.32 billion liters of petrol were imported into Nigeria in the fourth quarter of the year 2018. This information about the quantity of petrol imported into the country was disclosed by NBS in its Petroleum Products Imports and Consumption (Truck Out) Statistics for fourth quarter 2018 posted on its website. The NBS said that 331.78 million litres of domestic gas were imported into the country in the quarter under review. The bureau said that state-wide distribution or truck-out volume for fourth quarter showed that 5.17 billion litres of petrol were distributed nationwide. It said that 1.16 billion litres of diesel, 81.12 million litres of household kerosene, 256.73 million litres of aviation fuel and 137.53 million litres of domestic gas were distributed nationwide during the period under review. Member Of Supreme Eiye Confraternity Arrested In Italy A Nigerian man believed to be a member of the Supreme Eiye confraternity has been arrested by the authorities in Treviso area of Italy. The 34-year-old suspected gang leader who has an Italian resident permit was arrested along with some of his gang members following investigations into criminal activities ranging from prostitution, human and trafficking among other vices. It was learnt that an investigation into the gang’s activity in the area – was launched after a young Nigerian girl said to be a victim of sex trafficking – exposed the suspects to the police. 2019 election: Tribunal orders service of another petition on Buhari

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) has ordered that President Muhammadu Buhari be served a petition, challenging his victory, through the National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC). A three-man panel of the tribunal, led by Justice Abdu Aboki, gave the order on Friday in a ruling on an ex-parte motion filed by the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) and its presidential candidate, Pastor Aminchi Habu. The tribunal ordered that copies of all the processes filed by the petitioners be served on President Buhari through the APC’s National Legal Adviser at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja. Petitioners lawyer, Aliyu Lemu, while arguing the motion, told the tribunal that if the bailiff had problem serving President Buhari in his office. He said it was necessary that the President, who is listed as the second respondent be served through substituted means so that their petition could be heard within the stipulated 180 days. Residents nab ‘kidnap’ syndicate operating in Taxi

Residents of Bariga have arrested members of a suspected kidnap and robbery syndicate operating in a taxi. The suspects including an old man said to be the driver were arrested on Wednesday after one of the victims identified their operational vehicle, a dark green Toyota Camry. It was gathered that the victim, a woman, had boarded the taxi on Tuesday on her way to work but was diverted towards Badagry Expressway where her hands, legs and mouth were tied. The gang comprising four men, allegedly dispossessed her of her phone, N20,000 and other valuables before pushing her out of the vehicle inside a bush, to find her way. Luck however ran out of the gang on Wednesday when the said victim saw them and raised alarm. The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) disclosed at the weekend that the Export Expansion Grant (EEG) is being resuscitated as the minister of Finance has directed the Debt Management Office for settlement of the EEG debts. The debt is covering claims back log of 10 years from 2007 to 20016 for 270 companies with the total value of one hundred and ninety five billion, eighty nine million, two hundred and thirty four thousand, eight hundred and eighty naira, and sixty four kobo (N195,080,234,808.64). Fire destroys eight shops in Kano

The Kano State Fire Service on Friday said that eight shops were destroyed in an early morning fire at Katsina Road, Muletara roundabout, in Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano. Alhaji Saidu Mohammed, the spokesman of the service, who confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said that the fire started at about 6. 15 a.m. “We received a distress call at our station in Dawanua today (Friday) from one Aliyu Mansir at about 6. 151a.m that there was a fire at Muletara roundabout. “Upon receiving the information, we quickly sent a fire truck to the scene at about 6.58 a.m to bring the situation under control so as not to affect other shops,’’ he said. Herbalists remanded for being in possession of coffin

An Ilorin Magistrates’ Court on Friday ordered that two herbalists be remanded in prison for allegedly being in possession of a coffin wrapped with white cloth which contained dangerous charms prepared for money ritual. The police charged Adewole Bashiru and Owuoade Olabisi with being in possession of criminal charms and Advance fee Fraud. Magistrate Aminat Shittu who ordered that Bashiru and Olabisi be remanded in Okekura Prison Yard, Ilorin, adjourned the case until April 12 for further mention. The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Sanni Abdullahi informed the court that the accused persons were arrested with in a Mazda car with registration number LND 451 CF with a coffin on Unity road, Ilorin. Abdullahi also said that the two calabashes were filled with black soap, cowries and other fetish charms were seized from the accused. He said that during interrogation, the accused persons confessed that they “prepared” the coffin for their customer, Wabi Amodu who paid N3.3 million.

Mr Dennis Muilenburg, Chairman, President and CEO, Boeing Company, says the company will complete the software update of the Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS) in 737 Max aircraft. Muilenburg disclosed this in a statement on Friday in response to the preliminary report on its crashed flight 302, released by the Ethiopian Accident Investigation Bureau on Thursday. He said that the full details of what happened in both Lion Air and Ethiopian accidents would be issued by the government authorities in the final reports. Boeing president added with the release of the preliminary report of the Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 accident investigation, it was apparent that in both flights, the MCAS was activated in response to erroneous angle of attack information. According to him, the history of our industry shows most accidents are caused by a chain of events. He said that it was the similar case in the recent two accidents, adding that pilots had stated that erroneous
