Why We Arrested Senator Adeleke – Police Reveals

The Nigeria police force has defended the detention of Ademola Adeleke, lawmaker representing Osun west senatorial district. Speaking with ONE WORD on Monday, Frank Mba, force spokesman, said Adeleke was detained in connection with ongoing criminal investigations against him. ONE WORD had reported how the police detained Adeleke, who was candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2018 governorship election in Osun state. The senator had honoured an invitation at the force headquarters in Abuja before he was detained. Mba told ONE WORD Adeleke will be charged to court on Tuesday. Man stabs friend to death over argument

The suspect Adejoke Adeleye /Abeokuta A 28-year old man, Oni Olohunwa has been arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command for culpable homicide. The suspect was arrested following a report by Wasiu Raheem who took the stabbed victim to the Ogijo Police Station. According to Raheem, the suspect and the victim were both attending a party, but the victim got drunk and started misbehaving. While the suspect was trying to caution him, an argument ensued between them and the suspect brought out a knife with which he stabbed the deceased in the chest and back. On the strength of the report, the DPO Ogijo Division CSP Baba Muhammed detailed his detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested. Meanwhile, the victim, Baraka Taiwo was rushed to a nearby hospital but died while receiving treatment. His corpse has been deposited at OOUTH Sagamu for post mortem examination. 7 banks pay N144.99m fine to regulators in 2018

Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) Seven banks quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) paid N144.99 million as fines to regulators in 2018 for various contraventions. Investigations by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) indicated that the fines were paid to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Financial Reporting Council and Corporate Affairs Commission. The affected banks are: Sterling Bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA), Zenith International Bank, GT Bank, Access Bank, FBN Holdings and Fidelity Bank. A breakdown of the figure as contained in the banks’ annual reports showed that FBN Holdings and its subsidiaries, First Bank of Nigeria, FBN Quest Merchant Bank and FBN Insurance Limited, paid the highest fine of N32.65 million during the period under review.
