Goodluck Jonathan fires back at Osinbajo

Image
Former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has attacked Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo over some of the issues he (Osinbajo) raised during his visit to the United States of America. Speaking in New York yesterday, Osinbajo had claimed that, “As at 2010, Nigeria had about 112.7million people living in extreme poverty. Nothing in place, there was no Social Investment Programme, there was no social security, no way of taking people out of poverty.” But Jonathan, in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Tuesday by his media office and signed by Reno Omokri, said that Osinbajo has taken his lies to the US. He added, “My attention has been drawn to statements by the so-called Pastor Yemi Osinbajo, the deputy to General Muhammadu Buhari, in New York where, as usual, he made false statements to the media in an effort to explain away his non-performance in office. “The statement [by Osinbajo] is a lie and it is very easy to disprove Mr. Osinbajo’s fallacious assertions. “According to

England star Toni Duggan accuses Cameroon's Augustine Ejangue of spitting on her during World Cup in France

Toni Duggan (left) accused Cameroon's Augustine Ejangue (right) of spitting on her  England fans were left outraged after seeing Cameroon's Augustine Ejangue spit on Toni Duggan during Sunday's World Cup last-16 showdown. The incident took place in the 13th minute as the referee awarded the Lionesses an indirect free-kick on the edge of the six-yard box following a back-pass from Aurelle Awona. Cameroon were not happy with the decision and Ejangue proceeded to let herself down with an unsavoury moment. As winger Duggan appealed to the referee, Ejangue could be seen spitting on her arm from behind. Duggan felt it and looked disgusted as she turned around and confronted the defender before pointing out the saliva on her arm to the official. Ejangue escaped unpunished, however, leading fans to question why VAR was not brought into action to give her what would have surely been a red card. Nonetheless, Duggan was soon smiling as Steph Houghton made the most of

Lampard is expected to take assistant and former Chelsea man Jody Morris (left) with him Frank Lampard is expected to be confirmed as Chelsea manager on Wednesday after Derby County granted the Premier League club permission to speak to him. Chelsea's efforts to bring club legend Lampard, 41, back to Stamford Bridge will accelerate in the next 24 hours, with sources claiming he will sign a three-year contract in the coming days. Roman Abramovich will pay a £4million compensation package to secure Lampard's emotional return. A statement released by the Championship club on Tuesday read: 'Derby County Football Club can confirm that they have granted permission for Chelsea Football Club to speak to Frank Lampard about the vacant managerial position at Stamford Bridge. 'With pre-season fast approaching for both clubs it is hoped this will allow Chelsea to swiftly conclude their discussions. 'The club will make no further comment until it is appropriate to

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane made Paul Pogba his primary target

Image
Paul Pogba 'favours' moving back to Juventus ahead of a possible transfer to Real Madrid. The Manchester United midfielder is Zinedine Zidane's top remaining target but Real Madrid are unwilling to stump up the £150million required. According to Spanish publication AS, Pogba would rather play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and prefers a switch back to his old club.      Zidane has already seen £344m worth of new players come through the door this summer. Real president Florentino Perez is reluctant to spend the £150m that United would want for Pogba, meaning Juventus and PSG could outgun the Spanish side. The 26-year-old World Cup winner made his name with Juventus and would reportedly like to return to his old stomping ground having already held talks with new manager Maurizio Sarri.

Passionate clinch: Cristiano Ronaldo and his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez were the picture perfect couple, as they locked lips for a steamy snap on Monday The brunette beauty, who swapped Madrid for Turin last summer after Cristiano signed for Juventus, painted an idyllic existence of life in her new home city with her partner of nearly three years. Georgina admitted in an interview with glossy Spanish magazine Hola! in February she would love to become the football star's wife but quashed rumours they are already engaged. She told the magazine her typical day consisted of waking up the children, changing them and having breakfast together before playing with them and preparing lunch, followed by a nap, a gym and spa session and a spot of TV with Cristiano before bed. Cristiano and Georgina are parents to daughter Alana Martina, 12 months. The sports star is also father to two-year-old twins Eva and Mateo - who were conceived by a surrogate mother. FIFA face calls to bring in male referees for Women's World Cup.

Tensions ran high in the match between Cameroon and England at the Women's World Cup The Cameroon players became infuriated at a number of decisions made by the referee and also the referee was accused of not being able to control the players during the World Cup match. The uncertainty of officials unaccustomed to high-pressure matches has led to some VAR referrals which seem unnecessary — and further doubts about how to interpret footage. Sam Kerr's goal for Australia against Brazil was chalked off because she was interfering with play. Tobin Heath's for the USA against Sweden counted, even though an offside Carli Lloyd affected a defender's decision to play the ball seconds earlier. A lack of experience has led some referees to need multiple replays. There are no English referees at the tournament because the FA did not deem any to have had enough experience. Sian Massey-Ellis is a specialist referee's assistant and part of a Swiss team of officia

Iranians turns Latest Sanctions Imposed by U.S. to Mockery

Image
“Are there really any sanctions that the U.S. hasn’t imposed against our country and people in the past 40 years?” a foreign ministry spokesman, Abbas Mousavi, asked reporters in Tehran. “And what did it achieve?” An Iranian calling himself K. Jafari wrote in a widely circulated tweet: “The only people left to sanction are me, my dad and our neighbor’s kid. The foreign ministry should share Trump’s phone number so we can call him and give him our names.” In contrast to the threats and bluster of Tehran’s previous responses to the Trump administration’s maximum pressure campaign, Iranians across the political spectrum dismissed the latest embargoes on Monday as little more than insults. Both hard-liners and reformers argued that the new sanctions would have little practical impact, aside from undermining Mr. Trump’s repeated assertions that he is seeking to renew talks with Tehran, if only to restrict its nuclear weapons program. It was in response to those actions that
