Three Persons Dead, 11 Injured After Speeding Bus Plunged Into Ogun River

A speeding bus has lost control before plunging into the Ogun river killing three person.     File photo     Three persons have been confirmed dead, while 11 persons were injured when a commercial bus plunged into Ogun River, otherwise known as Ososa River, on the Ijebu-Ode/Sagamu Expressway in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.   According to Punch, the accident, which involved a yellow Mazda E220 commercial bus, occurred on Thursday at 10:32 am reportedly due to alleged mechanical fault.   The Ogun State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corp, Clement Oladele, confirmed the incident.   Oladele in a statement said,  “A total of 14 people comprising five male adults and nine female adults were involved in the fatal crash. “The people injured were 11, comprising five males and six females. “A total of three people died in the crash made up of one male and two females.”   The FRSC boss further explained that th...

The Akwa Ibom House of Assembly on Thursday confirmed the 19 Commissioner and two Special Adviser nominees sent to it by Gov. Udom Emmanuel. The Speaker, Mr Aniekan Bassey, said at the plenary in Uyo, that the nominees had earlier been screened by the House Committee on Judiciary, Justice, Human Rights and Public Petitions. “Accordingly, the list of commissioners and advisers sent by Gov Udom Emmanuel is hereby confirmed. “The Clerk to the House, Mrs Mandu Umoren, is directed to forward the confirmation list to the governor,” Aniekan said. Nigeria’s foremost constitutional lawyer, Professor Ben Nwabueze (SAN) appeared at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar today. Professor Nwabueze’s appearance on Thursday coincided with the tendering of result sheets used in the February 23 presidential election by the PDP at the tribunal. After reaching for the mic, Prof Nwabueze requested the panel to allow him make his address while seated. The chairman of the panel, Justice Mohammed Garba accepted his request.
