Yemi Osinbajo Oluyemi Oluleke "Yemi" Osinbajo (born 8 March 1957) is a Nigerian politician and lawyer who is the current Vice President of Nigeria, in office since 29 May 2015. He is also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Professor of Law and until his inauguration as Vice President, a Senior Partner with SimmonsCooper Partners, a commercial law practice. Marriage, family and personal life Yemi Osinbajo SAN, GCON was born into the family of Opeoluwa Osinbajo on 8 March 1957, Creek Hospital, Lagos. Osinbajo is married to Dolapo (née Soyode) Osinbajo, a granddaughter of Obafemi Awolowo. They are blessed with three children- two daughters, Kiki, Kanyinsola and a son, Fiyinfoluwa Osibanjo. Cheque transactions fall 5% as BVN-linked accounts hit 36m cheque •PoS deals rise by 39.2% Transactions carried out through cheques fell by 5.02 per cent in 2018, against 2017 levels, indicating that more customers are embracing other payment alternatives, especially electronic. Statistics obtained from the Nigerian Interbank Settlement System (NIBSS), showed that in 2017 there were 10,814,991 volume of cheques valued at N5.3 trillion. But in 2018, the volume of cheques dropped to 9,019,239 valued at N5.1 trillion. The Guardian checks showed that the drop represents a 5.02 per cent slash in 2018, when compared with 2017. LIRS directs employers to deduct 10% tax from termination benefits By Elizabeth Adegbesan THE Lagos Inland Revenue Service, LIRS has directed employers to deduct Capital Gain Tax (CGT) from employee’s termination of service payments, which is 10 percent of the terminal benefits of employees. The revenue agency disclosed this in a public notice signed by its Chairman, Ayodele Subair. According to LIRS, such compensations are subjected to taxation in line with section 6(a) of the CGT Act, although it is exempted from taxation in paragraph 26 of schedule three of Personal Income Tax (PIT) Act and the compensation will be exempted from Pay As You Earn (PAYE) if the sum was not agreed on or before the disengagement process began.
