Heavily armed security men reportedly deployed to Emir Sanusi’s palace

Some heavily armed policemen have been reportedly deployed to the palace of the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, and the residents of some senior council members of the Kano Emirate. Daily Trust reports that on Saturday, May 11, about 10 police Hilux Vans with security personnel were stationed at the emir’s palace at Kofar Kudu, while another 10 patrol vehicles were deployed to the personal residence of chief of staff to the emir of Kano along Iyaka road. The newspaper stated that additional deployment of policemen were stationed at the residence of another aide of the emir, the incumbent Galadiman Kano, Alhaji Abbas Sanusi, while the main entrance of Kano state government house was also guarded by security officials. Wife of popular Ghanaian actor shot dead in US

The wife of popular Ghanaian actor, Chris Attoh, has been shot dead by an unknown gunman in Maryland, United States. The victim, identified as Jennifer Bowie, was shot in the head in the parking lot of a Maryland office building by a black gunman on Friday. According to NBC 4, the 44-year-old victim had left the office in the 6300 block of Ivy Lane and was walking to her car when a man armed with a handgun approached her. The Greenbelt Police Department said when she tried to run away, the man followed her and fired off multiple rounds, with at least one shot striking her. He then fled in a vehicle. Officers responded about 5.10 pm and found the woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was declared dead at the scene. Co-workers said the victim worked at a temporary staffing agency on the first floor. The assailant was described as black and having a thin build with black hair. Kingsley Moghalu, presidential candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in the 2019 election, says Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of Kano state, bastardised the throne of Muhammadu Sanusi, emir of Kano, for political reasons. Speaking at the Sikiru Kayode Adetona third annual professorial chair lecture, held on Friday at Ijebu-Ode, Ogun state, Moghalu said traditional rulers ought to be selected by the citizens and not the governors. “We have seen something happened recently in Kano state, that is the emir of Kano’s throne has been balkanised and bastardised. Why We Arrested Naira Marley, Zlatan – EFCC

The EFCC Lagos Zonal Office on Friday said it arrested two fast-rising Nigerian musicians, Afeez Fashola (aka Naira Marley) and Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael (aka Zlatan) in connection with an alleged case of internet fraud and money laundering. According to a statement by the EFCC, the arrest was made after an intelligence report had linked the suspects to cyber-crime offences. They were arrested along with Tiamiu Abdulrahman Kayode, Adewunmi Adeyanju Moses and Abubakar Musa. Their arrest followed an early morning raid on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 9, Gbangbola Street, Ikate, Lekki, Lagos. The anti-graft agency said that at the point of arrest, the Commission found and recovered a number of items, including laptops, from the suspects. The EFCC further claimed that they have so far volunteered useful information about their involvement in the alleged criminal activities, even as investigations continue. Vivian Lemuel, who turns a year older today was involved in an accident with her friend on the 24th of November 2018. EPL: Solskjaer reacts as Manchester United appoints new manager

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reacted to the appointment of Mike Phelan as the new Assistant Manager of the club. Man United on Friday appointed Phelan as Red Devils’ new Assistant Coach. “Manchester United is delighted to announce that Mike Phelan has been appointed Assistant Manager on a three-year contract,” Man United said in a statement. But reacting, Solskjaer described Phelan as a great person to have around, adding that 56-year-old has been invaluable him since last year December. “Mike is a great person to have around and has been invaluable to me since we returned in December,” Solskjaer told Man United’s official website. “He brings a wealth of experience to this role with a long established connection to the club. “We have a good group of coaching staff and we are already working on the challenges that lie ahead as we plan for the new season and the future beyond.”
