2019 election: APC, PDP, UDP guber candidates shun peace accord The Taraba Governorship Candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, United Democratic Party, UDP, and the All Progressives Party, APC, failed to show up at the peace accord signing ceremony. The candidates are Gov. Darius Ishaku of Taraba (PDP), Sen. Aisha Alhassan, the immediate past Minister of Women Affairs (UDP), and Alhaji Sani Danladi (APC). The signing of the peace accord took place on Thursday at the Police Command headquarters in Jalingo. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 14 other candidates, including Mr Kefas Sule of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), who is contesting on the platform of the All Blended Party (ABP) signed the peace pact. Recruitment: PSC receives 294,851 applications as portal closes Jan. 11 The Police Service Commission (PSC) says it has received 294,851 applications in the ongoing recruitment of 10,000 constables into the Nigeria Police Force as the portal closes on Jan. 11. The commission had received 242, 455 applications as at Jan. 3, four weeks after the recruitment portal was opened. 2019 Polls: Buhari Encouraging Under-Age Voting — Afenifere Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, on Wednesday said President Muhammadu Buhari is encouraging under-age voting by not signing the Electoral Act passed by the National Assembly into law. The group said the only way the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) can prevent the incidence of under-age voting in the 2019 general elections was to insist on the use of card reader for all registered voters. According to INEC, 13.5 million Nigerians voted manually without biometric accreditation in the 2015 presidential election.
