Muhammad Ali’s mansion sold for $2.5M The sprawling  estate in Berrien Springs, Michigan  where  legendary boxer Muhammad Ali once lived is off the market, after the home reportedly sold in late December. Muhammad Ali’s mansion The deal with Ali’s widow, according to Crain’s Detroit Business,  came in at $2.5 million dollars on Dec.  21.  The original asking price on the property was  $2,895,037. The buyer? The New York-based Turken Foundation, Crain’s reports. According to its website, the Turken Foundation assists eligible students by “means of housing, scholarship, and other cultural programs to improve their educational experience in the United States.” It’s unclear what the Turken Foundation plans to do with the property. Army shortlists women for combatant course, despite opposition The Nigerian Army has shortlisted female applicants for direct short service combatant course, DSSC, and short service combatant course, SSC, despite some oppositions from some quarters. Recruits undergo training  In a statement, the army said the selection exercise was scheduled to take place from January 4 to January 18. While the exercise for SSC will take place at Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA, old site, Kawo, Kaduna State, that of the DSSC will hold at 20 Battalion Barracks, Serti, Baruwa, Taraba State. In November, 2017, the armed forces council reportedly recommended an end to the admission of female cadets into the regular combatant course of NDA. INEC appoints Amina Zakari as head of collation centre for the 2019 elections The Independent and National Electoral Commission (INEC), has appointed Amina Zakari as the head the collation centre for the 2019 general elections. Zakari is to head the committee on collation centre, one of the two committees for the election which the commission inaugurated today January 3rd. Speaking during the inauguration of the committees in Abuja, INEC chairman Mahmood Yakubu, said the committees shall be responsible for the national collation centre which would be situated at the International Conference Centre, from where results of the Presidential election will be announced. “It will serve as the secretariat for collation of results and venue for briefing of international observers and the media,” he said. Ejike Mbaka calling him an agent of Satan after he endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term in office. Mbaka had claimed that if God was against Buhari, He would have allowed him to die. Naira up at N359.5 /$ in parallel market The Naira, Thursday, appreciated to N359.5 per dollar in the parallel market. Naira According to  naijabdcs.com, the live exchange rate platform of the Association of Bureaux De Change Operators of Nigeria (ABCON), the parallel market exchange dropped to N359.5 per dollar from N362.5 per dollar last week Monday, indicating three kobo appreciation of the naira. However, the naira ,yesterday, depreciated by 89 kobo in the  Investors and Exporters (I&E) window. Data from FMDQ showed that the indicative exchange rate for the window rose to N365.30 per dollar yesterday from N364.41 per dollar on Wednesday, translating to 41 kobo depreciation of the naira.
