February 16 and the restructuring bait

By Emmanuel Umohinyang ONE of the greatest pains of patriots who truly love the African continent is that it continues to lag behind despite her enormous potentials. Curiously, Africa’s bane has largely been due to Africans who continue to show contempt towards a continent so blessed in human and natural resources, though some still refer to her colonisation by foreign powers as a major drawback. Nigeria which was truly the giant of Africa is a typical case of the unfortunate scenario after showing some glimpses of greatness at infancy. Many still recall the Malaysia story where that country came to Nigeria many years ago to explore how she could tap the potentials of oil palm and is today a major foreign exchange earner from that produce, years after, while Nigeria continued its over reliance on oil until recently. Similar stories are legion, but the sad story was that Nigeria was almost left to bleed to death administration after administration, largely due to corruption...

Leader of the group, Uchenna Madu, stated this when he addressed reporters in Owerri, the Imo State capital on Sunday. MASSOB warned Osinbajo to be very careful about northern agenda. The pro-Biafra group added that, “This is the last chance given to the vice president by God; he cannot continue to keep quiet and watch various atrocities being meted to Christians; God knows why he has saved his life. “He cannot continue to watch while other zones perish in the hands of one zone; the vice president is a Christian and a pastor; he knows the implication of keeping quiet on matters like this; so he should be very careful. “In 2015, the northerners could not completely have their way because Tinubu was there; now if Osinbajo is not careful, the northerners will have their way to prepare the country for an Islamic state.” Source:http...

Omawumi, one of Nigeria's star musicians, has given an insight into some of the special things she does before going on stage to perform. The Itsekiri-born entertainer, who was shot to limelight through West African Idols in 2007, told Saturday Beats that unlike some others that would take all sorts of substances before each performance, she usually spent a few minutes to pray to God before going on stage. According to the law graduate of Ambrose Ali University, Edo State, the strategy is her own special ritual and it has worked like magic for her over the years. She said, “The rituals I perform before going on stage include prayers. I pray to God before every performance. It is a ritual I have carried out over the years and is working for me. “I do not think entertainers should rely on anything, especially negative things before a performance because they could become dependent on such and the day those things are not available, it will affect their performance. “Peo...
