Buhari govt to jam telecoms network Feb 16, 17 – Fayose alleges

Immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has alleged of plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government to jam all telecommunications networks from 5am on Saturday till 5pm on Sunday to make it impossible for use of internet and phone calls during the Presidential and National Assembly elections. Fayose, who is also the Southwest Coordinator of the Atiku/Obi PDP Presidential Campaign Council said the equipment for the sinister plot arrived the country from Israel last week and test run was done on Thursday and Friday. He added that “I am in my house and even if they put gun in my head, I won’t keep silent at this time because this same strategy was used in Ekiti state during the 2018 governorship election.” The former governor, who made this known in a release issued on Tuesday evening by his Media Aide, Lere Olayinka, said all Nigerians and the international community must rise in defense of democracy and the country. Tinsel Co-Writer Dies In Auto Crash At 30

Osang Abang 30-year-old Nigerian scriptwriter, Osang Abang, is dead. The University of Calabar graduate, who worked with M-Net, passed away in a bus accident, on Thursday night, and was buried on Monday. Abang was co-writing content for Tinsel, a popular Nigerian soap opera, before his death. He was also the head writer of the series, BattleGround. Nigerians React As Many Die During Stampede At APC Rally In Rivers

Nigerians have reacted as many people lost their lives today at the APC presidential rally held in Port Harcourt, Rivers state. Scores of persons sustained various degrees of injuries and have been evacuated to hospital for treatment. The victims were trapped at the exit gate of Adoki Amasiemeka Stardium as they tried to walk out of the Stadium. INEC speaks on Anambra inferno, reveals number of card readers burnt

The Independent National Electoral Commission, on Tuesday, said, that a total of 4,695 card readers were destroyed in the fire that gutted the containers, where they were kept at the Anambra State office. INEC also revealed that it will mop up spare card readers in other states for use in the Anambra. A statement signed by Festus Okoye, the Chairman of INEC’s committee on Information and Voter Education, reads: “While the Commission awaits the details of the latest incident, it notes with some relief that there was no fatality or injury reported. “Initial assessment, however, confirms that a total of 4,695 smart card readers were destroyed in the inferno. “While this is no doubt, a setback to our preparations, for the smooth conduct of the elections in Anambra State, the Commission has taken immediate measures to ameliorate the situation by mopping up some of the spare card readers from other states to deploy to Anambra State.” Source:https://samueljackson12.blogspot.com/2

2019 election: 73 political parties field candidates – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says 73 political parties have fielded candidates for elective offices during the forthcoming general election in Bauchi state. INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, said this on Tuesday in Bauchi while addressing a stakeholders’ meeting organised by the commission. Abdullahi said 31 political parties fielded candidates for governorship election, while 44 fielded candidates for the senatorial election. According to him, 140 parties fielded candidates for the House of Representatives poll, while 368 fielded candidates for the State House of Assembly poll. Abdullahi said the commission had distributed over 90 per cent of the Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs), printed for the electorate in the state. “Only 32,972 PVCs are yet to be collected,’’ he said. Abdullahi said the commission had received all necessary materials for the poll and had sent them to the Central Bank of Nigeria
