President Muhammadu Buhari Fellow Citizens, On Saturday, February 16, 2019, you will, once again, be called upon to choose the leaders who will pilot the affairs of our great nation for the next four years. This is a constitutional right which should be freely exercised by all eligible voters. I wish therefore to start by assuring all Nigerians that this Government will do its very best to ensure that the 2019 elections take place in a secure and peaceful atmosphere. It was indeed such free, fair and peaceful elections that made it possible for our Government to emerge, despite the fact that we were contesting against a long-standing incumbent party. And as your president and a fellow Nigerian, I ask that you come out and queue to fulfill this important obligation you have to yourselves and your fellow citizens – and to our common future. Let me at this point, reaffirm the commitment of the Federal Government to the conduct of free and fair elections in a safe and peace

Peter Obi: the force Behind Atiku’s grassroots campaign

I would prefer to start this article with a long laugh. Unfortunately, the seriousness of the topic at hand will not allow me. Firstly, I am an avid consumer of Twitter and it was not long ago, when people all over Twitter Nigeria, bickered on how the PDP is not a good-enough opposition to challenge the ruling APC. Now, the odds have shifted hands and may be against the incumbent. That is not the reason for writing this article though. The reason, however, is that there is a steady force of acceptance, rocking the foundations of the APC and evenly, cementing the gains of the PDP in the build-up to the February 16th polls. Just like a standard military operation, the airstrike (state-wise rallies), are there to cause maximum damage, but the ground forces (grassroots mobilization) come in to mop up the enemies and ensure a decisive victory. Peter Obi has done both, and unlike the proverbial Jack of all trades, he is master of both. Engaging stakeholders like the NBA, the CAN in

file photo of YPP presidential candidate, Professor Kingsley Moghalu. The presidential candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Professor Kingsley Moghalu, is confident of being sworn in as the nation’s next president. While appearing on The Verdict, a special programme on Channels Television for the 2019 elections, Moghalu said he is the leading alternative candidate besides those of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). “Let me make it very clear that I am not here to debate with anyone. The fact speaks for themselves. I am the leading alternative candidate outside of the APC and the PDP,” he said. “And the YPP is the leading alternative party. There are numerous polls that have established that and I don’t want to go into them.” “I think the results will speak in the elections and we will see at the end of the day. But I have no question in my mind that I will be sworn in as the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeri

US President Donald Trump.                                                                            MANDEL NGAN / AFP United States President Donald Trump will sign a spending bill averting a government shutdown but will also issue an emergency declaration to fund his contested border wall, the Senate’s top Republican said Thursday. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told colleagues that he spoke by phone with Trump, who “indicated he’s prepared to sign the bill. He will also be issuing a national emergency declaration at the same time.” The White House confirmed the plan minutes later. “He will also take other executive action — including a national emergency — to ensure we stop the national security and humanitarian crisis at the border,” Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said. Declaring such an emergency, a rare step, would free Trump to seek to redirect federal funds from elsewhere to help pay for a wall along the US-Mexico border. Trump saying he will sign the spe
