'Soldiers Killed', Hundreds Flee As Boko Haram Attacks Military Checkpoints In Borno

A report by SaharaReporters has shown that many people are feared dead while hundreds of residents fled their homes, as suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked a military checkpoint in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State on Wednesday night. According to vigilantes and residents in the area, the terrorists stormed Miringa village, some 16km to Biu, the largest town in the southern part of the state, at about 6pm and shot sporadically at military personnel at checkpoints, killing several motorists and soldiers. Abdulrahman Miringa, one of the residents who fled the area, said hundreds of residents passed the night in Biu, while the invaders exchanged gunfire with the soldiers for about two hours, non-stop. "The incident started precisely at 6pm," Abdulrahman told our correspondent by phone. The arrest, according to a police source was made possible by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP, in charge of FSARS, Lagos, Kola Kamaldeen who directed his team led by SP Olaniyi Festus to arrest the suspect following the intelligence report he received from a source that the painter was looking for a buyer for his customer’s SUV. A 35-year old housewife had a nasty experience in Lagos after she was brutally assaulted and raped by a 21-year old man on her way to a church vigil at Old Garage in Ikotun area of Lagos. The suspect, Michael Adeshina, who resides at No.10 Toki Street in the Old Garage area of Ikotun, Lagos, targeted and accosted the victim late evening on her way to a church vigil. He reportedly threatened her, took her to a dark spot, tore her pant and forcefully penetrated her. A young man was allegedly stabbed by his girlfriend over a phone call in Rivers state. According to reports, the victim identified as Mr. Abeulah, a native of Delta but stays in Ogu/Bolo local government area of Rivers state, with his girlfriend named Miss Alice Peter, who is a native of Ogoni in Rivers. It was gathered that Mr. Abeulah was said to be making a phone call when his girlfriend stormed the room and allegedly stabbed him in the eye. CBN mobilises school children to embrace saving culture

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has started a campaign to educate school children about money, saving, creating livelihoods and becoming an entrepreneur. The CBN’s Deputy Governor, Financial System Stability (FSS), Mrs. Aisha Ahmad led some CBN Directors to visit some schools within Abuja as part of activities to mobilise secondary school children to embrace money saving culture as well as mark the Global Money week. The schools visited were the Government Secondary School, Wuse Zone 3 and the Staff Community Secondary School, Asokoro. Ahmad urged the children to learn to manage their money wisely, save and invest for their future.
