The Super Falcons were "robbed" by VAR in their last group game of the 2019 Fifa Women’s World Cup against France, claims Nigerian fans. Nigeria went into the encounter in dire need of a positive result, but Wendie Renard’s 79th minute penalty condemned Thomas Dennerby’s ladies to their second defeat of the championship. The game was heading for a 0-0 draw before VAR awarded a penalty kick to the hosts after Ngozi Ebere was penalised for fouling Viviane Asseyi in Nigeria's penalty area. The initial kick by Renard hit the outside of the post and went wide. However, VAR ordered a replay after goalkeeper Nnadozie moved off her line before the kick. Workers task Buhari on pension payments

President Buhari Federal Government workers on Monday urged President Muhammadu Buhari to give priority to timely payment of pensions and gratuities to retirees. The workers made the plea in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Lagos, at the pre- retirement workshop organised by National Pension Commission (PenCom) for workers due to retire in 2020. They noted that retirees are being made to wait endlessly before receiving their benefits despite serving their fatherland for more than 30 years. One of the workers, Mr Olusegun Oga, a a staff of Neuro Psychiatric Hospital, Lagos, told NAN that the delay in settling retirees’ gratuities and pensions had brought discomfort to many retired workers and their families. “Most times, retirees find it difficult to make ends meet after retirement, this happen because of the long period awaited for gratuities and pensions payments. ” President Buhari must ensure that retirees get there benefits a month after ...

Nigeria Plans to Invest $500 Million to Boost Palm Oil Production

Nigeria plans to increase its palm oil production 700% over the next eight years to help improve its foreign-exchange earnings that are largely dependent on crude oil exports. The new policy will boost local production to about five million tons from 600,000 tons a year by investing as much as 180 billion naira ($500 million) beginning this year, the trade and investment ministry said in a report. “Our policy objectives over an eight-year period (between 2019 and 2027) will see that we locally produce 100% of local crude palm oil demand by 2027, increase revenue from importation via duties and deliver 225,000 full time jobs and at least 450,000 seasonal jobs,” it said. The new policy also seeks to remove the 75% duty rebate granted on refined palm oil imports and extend a current three-year tax holiday for all producing and processing companies to five years. The EFCC arraigned Lawal, along side his brother Hamidu, a director of Rholavision Engineering Limited; an employee of the company, Sulaiman Abubakar and the Managing Director of Josmon Technologies Limited, Apeh Monday. They are charged with 10 count bordering on conspiracy and fraud. Also joined are two companies, Rholavision Engineering Limited and Josmon Technologies Limited.
