One Corps Member Dead, 19 Others Injured In Taraba Accident

A corps member serving in Taraba State has died following a road accident involving some vehicles. Nineteen others including a local government inspector also sustained various degrees of wounds as a result of the incident which occurred on Monday. Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the state, Florence Yaakugh, confirmed the crash and figures to Channels Television on Tuesday. She said, “It was a minibus that had a head-on collision with a Toyota Hiace bus conveying the corps members to Sarduna Local Government Area of the state for their primary assignments.” “The accident, according to some eyewitnesses, occurred when the minibus was attempting to overtake two trailers at a time, but could not make it leading to the accident.” Yaakugh explained that the incident occurred after the mandatory three weeks orientation course, at a location just less than a kilometre away from the orientation camp. Embattled Sen. Ishiaku Abbo (PDP-Adamawa) on Tuesday challenged members of the Senate investigative panel handling his alleged case of assault on a nursing mother not to threaten him with suspension. The Senator in a viral video, which has again stirred reactions online, spoke when he appeared before the 6-man panel set up by the Senate to investigate him. Abbo, who appeared before his colleagues at exactly 3.15 p.m., told them that the matter was already before the court, hence he would not make comments that could amount to prejudice of the Court process. President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the accelerated promotion of two Generals and a Subaltern of the Nigerian Army as reward for their gallantry and exemplary leadership. Col. Sagir Musa, Acting Director, Army Public Relations, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja. Musa said the officers were granted promotion for their extra-ordinary feats, courage, exemplary leadership, loyalty, uncommon commitment and valour in the counter insurgency operation in the Northeastern part of the country. He explained that the two senior officers were Maj.-Gen. L.O Adeosun, the Chief of Training and Operations at Army Headquarters, who has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General. Seized Cars Estimated at N30 billion Wasting away at Nigeria Customs Service Warehouses

Thousands of seized vehicles estimated to cost about N30 billion are currently wasting away at various warehouses of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) nationwide as bidders prospect for opportunity to buy them on the e-auction platform. The Guardian learnt that the vehicles, including exotic brands and top models, were either abandoned by importers or seized from smugglers across the borders, seaports and other locations. Among those sighted by The Guardian are Mercedes Benz G wagon and various Mercedes Benz 4matic models, Hummer, Mercedes Benz, Range Rover Evolution, Ford Edge, Toyota Land Cruiser, Highlander, Toyota Hilux, various models of Lexus, Porsche cars and a host of other sport utility vehicles (SUVs) from Ford and Toyota brands. Oil rises on falling U.S. stockpiles

Oil prices rose on Wednesday after industry data showed U.S. stockpiles fell far more than expected, alleviating concerns about oversupply, while major U.S. producers evacuated rigs in the Gulf of Mexico ahead of a brewing storm. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude Clc1 climbed 85 cents, or 1.5 per cent , to $58.68 by 0541 GMT. Brent LCOc1 was up 64 cents, or  one per cent at 64.80 dollars , having earlier hit 64.95 dollars. The U.S. and global benchmarks have gained this year as the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and big producers such as Russia have curbed output to bolster prices. However, ongoing trade tensions have raised fears about weaker demand, and investors have been on the lookout for signs that rapidly increasing U.S. production is being consumed. Veteran Rapper, Biglo Down With Kidney Failure, Seeks Financial Assistance

Biglo revealed how he has lost his job, car and even his house as a result of his predicament. Biglo Veteran Nigerian rapper, Lotanna Udezue, popularly known as ‘Biglo’, is down with a kidney ailment. The rapper is currently undergoing dialysis at a nursing home in California, U.S. and is trying to raise funds on a Gofundme account. Biglo shot into limelight in 2004 with the hit ‘Delicious’ which featured 2shotz. Although the track earned him a Hip Hop World Award for Best Rap Collabo, the chubby rapper, however, went underground after the buzz died down. His cousin, Zuby Udezue, who opened a GoFundMe account on his behalf said the ailment was diagnosed in July 2018. He also added that Biglo has been undergoing dialysis three times weekly since January. Mr. Udezue, who is a UK-based rapper, added that he has also undergone three surgeries and is trying to raise £50,000; about N23 million. As at press time, about £4,830 has been raised.
