Elections postponement: National Assembly shifts resumption date

The National Assembly has announced the postponement of its resumption earlier scheduled for Tuesday Feb. 19 to Tuesday Feb. 26.

The Clerk to the National Assembly, Mr Mohammed Sani-Omolori made this known in a statement to NAN on Sunday.
He said the postponement became necessary following the postponement of the Presidential and National Assembly elections rescheduled for Saturday Feb. 23.

“This is to inform all distinguished senators and honourable members that resumption of plenary session earlier scheduled for Tuesday Feb. 19 has been postpones to Tuesday, Feb. 26 due to the postponement of the national elections.

“All distinguished senators and honourable members are expected to resume plenary session by 10 a.m. on Feb. 26 please,” he said.

The Senate had on Jan. 24, adjourned plenary till Feb. 19, to enable preparations for the Feb. 16 Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Update On Slay Queen Who Was Stripped Naked And Tortured Over Missing Phone.

The League of Patriotic Lawyers has given Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olusegun Odumosu, 24 hours to unravel those behind the torture and insertion of pepper into a girl’s private part in Benin City over alleged stealing of a mobile phone.  Chairman of the platform and former Student Union President of the University of Benin, Mr. Abubakar Yesufu, who said this in a statement yesterday, also urged the state Director, Department of State Services, DSS, to be involved in the investigation. A video of the incident, seen by Vanguard yesterday, showed the girl being stripped naked by a group of people, who inserted pepper into her private parts for allegedly stealing a phone.
