EPL: Emery confirms Arsenal star will leave Emirates after 1-1 draw against Brighton
Arsenal manager, Unai Emery has confirmed that striker, Danny Welbeck will leave Emirates at the end of the season.
Emery said this after Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday.
Welbeck broke his ankle during Arsenal’s Europa League 0-0 draw against Sporting last year.
The England international landed awkwardly after leaping in the air to meet a cross just after the half hour mark against Sporting, and needed oxygen before being stretchered off the pitch.
Speaking on Welbeck, Emery was quoted by Mirror UK as saying after Arsenal’s draw against Brighton: “I spoke with the club and the decision is he is going to leave.
“Welbeck will become a free agent this summer.”
Welbeck joined Arsenal from Manchester United in 2014 for £16million.
The 28-year-old scored 32 goals in 126 appearances for the Gunners.
