The summary of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal which continued hearing earlier today in the petitions filed by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, his party and three other political parties challenging the declaration of President Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the 2019 presidential poll.

This online news platform recalls that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, winner of the February 23 election, defeating his closest challenger, Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with over 3 million votes.

The former Vice President and the main opposition party, however, rejected the results and are challenging it in court.

Also, another opposition party, Hope Democratic Party (HDP), has set a motion to seek an order of the presidential election tribunal restraining President Muhammadu Buhari from presenting himself to be sworn-in on May 29th, 2019

At the resumption of the sitting today, armed security operatives barricade the Court of Appeal premises in Abuja, venue of the presidential election petition tribunal sitting at about 9:00 am.

As at 10:18 am, lawyers, journalists and other stakeholders were already in the Court premises but sitting was yet to commence.

By 12:07 pm, the session commence with the President of the Court of Appeal and Chairperson of the 2019 Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa presiding.

A request by Livy Uzoukwu (SAN), lawyer to the petitioners – Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Atiku Abubakar halted proceedings at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal at about 12:15 pm.

The 2019 Presidential Election Petition Tribunal adjourned the matter at about 12: 47 pm to May 22, 2019 to determine the status of Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa as Chairperson of the Tribunal.

Update On Slay Queen Who Was Stripped Naked And Tortured Over Missing Phone.

The League of Patriotic Lawyers has given Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olusegun Odumosu, 24 hours to unravel those behind the torture and insertion of pepper into a girl’s private part in Benin City over alleged stealing of a mobile phone.  Chairman of the platform and former Student Union President of the University of Benin, Mr. Abubakar Yesufu, who said this in a statement yesterday, also urged the state Director, Department of State Services, DSS, to be involved in the investigation. A video of the incident, seen by Vanguard yesterday, showed the girl being stripped naked by a group of people, who inserted pepper into her private parts for allegedly stealing a phone.
