A large speech about Ronaldo was read out to the crowd, before the 34-year-old emerged onto the stage as Tina Turner's 'Simply the Best' played over the speakers.

With Ronaldo beaming to the masses, a familiar face was on hand to present the award in Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.

As the honour was given, Juventus took to social media to also join in with the praise of their No 7.

Real Madrid, who are in pre-season action against Tottenham on Tuesday, also took to social media to congratulate their former star.

In the post they carried Ronaldo's acceptance quote: 'A big part of this award owes to what I did at Real Madrid.'
Cristiano Ronaldo has left Real Madrid fans demanding he be brought back to the Bernabeu, after adding to his seemingly endless trophy collection and being honoured with Marca's Legend award.

The Portuguese superstar has been recognised by the Spanish publication for his achievements in football generally and during his record-breaking tenure with Real Madrid.

Marca select individuals who have dominated in their sport, after creating the award in 1997. With the presentation set in the Spanish capital and Madrid president Florentino Perez handing out the award, fans quickly grew all too nostalgic and began to demand Ronaldo's return.

A flurry of responses from Madrid fans poured in as a result, with many urging the club to bring their former golden-boy back after a miserable 2018-19 campaign.
Ronaldo has won five Champions Leagues, four Club World Cups, three European Super Cups, three Premier Leagues, two La Liga titles, one Serie A title, one European Championship and the UEFA Nations League.

The Portugal captain returned to the Spanish capital to attend the awards ceremony on Monday, accompanied by family members and his partner Georgina Rodriguez.

Ronaldo sported a blue and white polka dot shirt as he stepped up to collect the golden trophy, and thanked all of those present for their appreciation.
Ronaldo joins the likes of Michael Jordan, Pele, Rafa Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Muhammad Ali, Usian Bolt, Michael Phelps, Michael Schumacher and Diego Maradona.

His football rival Lionel Messi also scooped the award in 2009.

In selecting Ronaldo, Marca reflected back on a career of extraordinary success which is still writing new chapters.
