Liverpool finally discover December schedule as FIFA confirm Club World Cup in QATAR will be staged between December 11 and 21
Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool will travel to Qatar for the FIFA Club World Cup in December
Liverpool have finally received confirmation of the schedule for December's FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar.
The European champions will travel to the Middle East just before Christmas with their semi-final match schedule in for Wednesday December 18 and either a final or third-place play-off on Saturday December 21.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp expressed his frustration earlier this week that FIFA had not notified the club of when the tournament would be held.
It will be one of seven competitions Liverpool - who beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the Champions League final on June 1 - will be in this season.
They will contest the Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, Champions League, Community Shield, UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
It was decided last month that Qatar will stage the tournament this year and next year after two years in the United Arab Emirates.
Playing in the tournament will cause disruption to Liverpool's domestic campaign with their away Premier League fixture at West Ham on December 21 set to be moved.
The trip would also clash with a possible Carabao Cup quarter-final if Liverpool progress that far in the competition, meaning a possible fixture pile-up at an already hectic time of the year.
FIFA confirmed on Friday morning that the Club World Cup will kick-off on December 11 and the eight matches in the tournament will be spread out over the ensuing 10 days.
Four of the eight participants have been confirmed with Liverpool, who enter at the semi-final stage, joining Mexican club Monterrey, Hienghene Sport from New Caledonia and Qatari team Al-Sadd.
