Nigeria vs Tunisia: Rohr finally reveals why he made Uzoho third-choice goalkeeper
Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, has claimed he relegated Francis Uzoho to his third-choice goalkeeper because he did not get enough game time for his club.
“We also saw our third-choice goalkeeper today and he did well.
“The only problem he had was he didn’t get game time for his club,” Rohr told a post-match press conference.
Uzoho, who was first choice for Nigeria at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, only started the third-place match against Tunisia at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
In February, the 20-year-old moved on loan to Cypriot club Anorthosis Famagusta, in the search of more playing time ahead of the AFCON.
However, Rohr dropped him down the pecking order behind Daniel Akpeyi, who started four games and Ezenwa who manned the post against Madagascar.
