Fenerbahce are keen on signing Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil, according to Sky Sports

Fenerbahce would be unable to fund all of Ozil's £350,000-a-week wages and hope that Arsenal will countenance a loan deal in which they still pay a portion of the player's salary.

'If this happens it would possibly be the biggest transfer in the history of Turkish football,' Sky Sports claim.

It is understood Emery is keen on recruiting more players to north London and with Ozil largely off the wage bill it would certainly loosen the financial shackles on Emery, with a host of midfield options reportedly on his radar.

Ozil is of German and Turkish descent and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was the best man at the player's wedding earlier this summer.

Fenerbahce are keen on signing Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil in what has reportedly been described as 'the biggest transfer' in Turkish football history.

The enigmatic midfielder has endured a turbulent stint in the Premier League and over the past few transfer windows has constantly been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium.

But with Gunners boss Unai Emery hellbent on raising funds to bolster his squad and just a £40million budget to work with, a lucrative deal for Ozil could prove beneficial for both parties.
