“Please help, don’t let me die,”cries 30-yr old man, crippled by hit-and-run driver
…Needs N7.5m for spinal cord surgery

His life hangs precariously on the balance with equal chances of living a normal life again or be permanently confined on a wheelchair where he has been for the past two years.
After two years of search for a solution to painful spinal cord disability resulting from a fatal motor accident, a glimmer of hope has arisen in the horizon for Ikenna Eze, a 30-year old businessman from Nachi, Udi Local Government Area, Enugu State, but not without a price.
Ikenna Eze
Expert surgeons at the Primus International Super Specialty Hospital, Karu Abuja, said the man could walk and live a normal life once again after a spinal cord surgical operation through his front and back sides (a posterior and anterior decompression and fixation). But the accident victim needs more than N7.5million to undergo laminectomy, a surgical operation to remove cracked bones and fix new one.
How it happened
On August 6, 2016, Ikenna was knocked down by a motorist in Abakiliki, Ebonyi State capital, where he was based and was taken to Felix Hospital by motorist who later disappeared.
They traversed many hospitals and traditional healing homes without clue to the solution until a sympathiser advised them to go to the Primus International Super Specialty Hospital, Karu Abuja.
After thorough examination at the hospital, it was discovered that a section of Ikenna’s spinal cord cracked and the cracked bone is moving inwards, resulting to his paralysis. Doctors said that his condition may progressively deteriorate.
Dr. Jagmal Singh, a consultant at Primus, recommended dual surgical operation (anterior/posterior decompression and fixation) to remove the compressive structures.
In a document sighted by our correspondent, Dr. Singh estimated the surgery cost at a minimum of N7million, N3.5million for each surgery.
It was stated that after a successful surgery the patient will be readmitted for 15 days at a minimum cost of N28, 000 per day amounting to N420, 000 for the 15 days covering bills for medical personnel, feeding, drugs and accommodation. Thus, a total sum of N7.5million is required to save Ikenna’s life.
According to the hospital, the estimated treatment cost must be paid in advance, and covers the surgery alone.
Mr. Eze said his family had run out of money having spent more than N3million without positive result. He is appealing to the public to help save his productive sibling.
“We don’t want to lose him. He is too productive to remain in this condition. He has been a focused young man, adding value anywhere you find him. We’re appealing to philanthropists and the general public to come to our help,” said Mr. Eze.
He appealed to anybody who wishes to help to pay into Diamond A/c number 0022889361.
However, anybody wishing to pay directly to the hospital account is to contact the management with the telephone number: 08086661532 and send details about such direct payment to Ikenna on 08030546356.
