Chelsea fans sets to welcome Back Frank Lampard and Jody Morris Home with a huge banner that cost £1,500

The banner is intended to cover the Shed End at the start of their first home game in charge

Chelsea supporters are coming together in an effort to raise money for a huge banner that will welcome Frank Lampard and Jody Morris 'home' in their first game at Stamford Bridge this season.

Club legend Lampard was announced as the club's new manager on Thursday, assistant manager and fellow former Blues midfielder Morris also following him from Derby County.

And fans want to give them a heroes' welcome with with a display that will cover the entire Shed End in their home opener against Leicester City on August 17.
'I am here to work hard, bring further success to the club and I cannot wait to get started.

'I don't think I even need to state how much it meant to me to play 13 years at this place, it was home for a long time.

'Those were all my playing memories and this is a new chapter and I'm really looking forward to it, my absolute desire now is to be here and work hard.'
Lampard is Chelsea's all-time record goalscorer and won 11 major honours during a successful 13-year stint in west London.

But despite his former glories as a player, he is now intent on lifting silverware as boss of the Blues.

'I am immensely proud to be returning to Chelsea as head coach,' he told the club's official website.

'Everyone knows my love for this club and the history we have shared, however, my sole focus is on the job in hand and preparing for the season ahead.

Die-hard Chelsea supporter Richard Weekes has set up a JustGiving page with the aim of raising £1500, an amount he believes should cover the cost of the banner.

'A donation of any size goes a massive way to getting this display in the stands,' he writes. 'If you can contribute anything at all towards welcoming our greatest ever goal scorer back home then we sincerely thank you.

'The display will also pay homage to Jody Morris, a local lad from Chelsea who grew up in the shadow of The Bridge, played for our club and is now on the touchline. Having someone like him, one of us in the true sense of the word, at the club is something that is truly special and can be rare in football.

As of 2.30pm on Thursday, £878 had been contributed, 58 per cent of the required total.
