Liverpool unveiled a new home and away kit ready for the new campaign

LIVERPOOL

Home kit

Liverpool have released their new 2019-20 home kit and while there is little surprise that it is red, there is a return to the strip that has not been seen since 1984.

Pin stripes are back in vogue at Anfield having last featured on the home kit when they lifted their fourth European Cup.

It would have been nicer if the stripes went the full way up the kit, but maybe the idea of falling short helped blend the old design with a modern concept.

All jokes aside, this is smart strip and a good offering from New Balance in the final year of their Reds deal.

Away kit

When you are European champions you can do what you want, but the away kit Jurgen Klopp's men will be playing in away from Anfield at certain grounds next term is unlikely to live long in the memory.

That's unless they go and win 5-0 at Manchester United of course, but from an aesthetic point of view it's not really got much going for it.

The white shirt, navy shorts and white socks design does not have anything wrong with it as such... just it does not really stand out. Neat and tidy and looks ok but otherwise it's just a white shirt.

Third kit

There's always a danger when releasing a black kit that it could just end up being a boring after thought - especially if the colour is used often on a change strip.

In the case of the latter, Liverpool fall into that category. But New Balance look like they may have just done enough to make their third kit slightly more distinctive.

The cyan trim is a nice touch, and while the front of the shirt makes it look like they are playing in kits made of carbon fibre, you will see far worse patterned displays.

THIRD KIT VERDICT: 7/10
