Oyo governor Ajimobi loses senatorial bid to PDP candidate
The governor of Oyo State Abiola Ajimobi has lost his Oyo South senatorial bid to the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Muhammed Kola-Balogun
Kola-Balogun defeated the State governor of the All Progressive Congress, with a total of 105,720 votes while the candidate of the Ajimobi had 92,217 votes.
The incumbent senator Soji Akanbi came third on the platform of African Democratic Congress.
The PDP candidate won the contest with a vote difference of 13,502.
The returning officer of the district, Wole Akinsola, announced the result at the INEC collation centre office in Ibadan North LGA.
Ajimobi won in three of the local governments in the senatorial district while Kola-Balogun won the remaining six.
The governor won in Ibadan Southwest, Ibarapa Central and Ido while Balogun won in Ibadan North, Ibadan Northwest, Ibadan Northeast, Ibadan Southeast, Ibarapa North, Ibarapa East.
