Frank Lampard could add former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole to his backroom staff
Lampard is thought to have been impressed by Cole's impact off the pitch at Derby last season and hailed his professionalism.

'First of all, I needed him as a player at Derby. And then there's the extra stuff in terms of what he brings as a professional,' Lampard said last season.

'Ash is great for the group. He was always first in at training, friendly with everyone and humble, even though he was the best left back in the world for a long period.'

Lampard is currently in Ireland with his squad preparing for his first game in charge, a pre-season friendly against Bohemians on Wednesday.

Lampard has already brought Jody Morris, another former Chelsea player, with him from Derby to Stamford Bridge to be his No 2 and The Mirror now report Cole could be his next addition.

He has already appointed Chris Jones and Eddie Newton as first-team coaches and Joe Edwards as assistant coach, all of whom have long-standing ties with the west London club.

It is understood that Lampard sees Cole as the perfect man to usher through the next generation of promising Chelsea youngsters, a role which, given their two-window transfer ban, is of utmost importance.

The new Blues boss recruited Cole as a player last year when he signed him for Derby from LA Galaxy.

But former left-back Cole, 38, confirmed he retired from playing after Derby lost the Championship play-off final to Aston Villa.

The League of Patriotic Lawyers has given Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olusegun Odumosu, 24 hours to unravel those behind the torture and insertion of pepper into a girl’s private part in Benin City over alleged stealing of a mobile phone.  Chairman of the platform and former Student Union President of the University of Benin, Mr. Abubakar Yesufu, who said this in a statement yesterday, also urged the state Director, Department of State Services, DSS, to be involved in the investigation.
