Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku is interested in a move to Inter Milan

Lukaku is hopeful of a move to Inter but is currently on United's pre-season tour to Australia
Inter Milan chief Giuseppe Moratta has hinted at imminent signings and claimed the club's pursuit of Manchester United's Romelu Lukaku is a 'work in progress

With Juventus leading Real Madrid in the race to sign Paul Pogba for £120m, should United pocket £80m for Lukaku they could potentially have a £200m at their disposal.

Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is reportedly a target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but would set United back £108m.

The Old Trafford side have already brought in Daniel James from Swansea for £15m and Aaron Wan-Bissaka for £50m from Crystal Palace.

The Serie A giants are interested in recruiting United's £75million striker, but United are holding firm on their £80m valuation.

Inter boss Antonio Conte is understood to be interested in signing Lukaku, who on Sunday left for United's pre-season tour of Australia, and the player is keen to play for the Italian.

Though Lukaku failed to live up to the heights of his first campaign at United, he is still highly sought after given his impressive 42-goal tally in two seasons at Old Trafford.

'The transfer market is a work in progress,' said Marotta. 'We are working hard to get the best squad possible for the new season. We are ambitious and want the best team possible.

'We also must find ways to respect all financial perimeters too. We cannot rush things because that can lead to mistakes.

'We have clear ideas but we need to be patient. We have important goals and transfer targets in mind.'
